These terms explain the rules for using Beam: what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how billing, sharing, and account closure work. Please read them carefully.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("Beam", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Beam website at beam.host, the Beam app at app.beam.host, the Beam command-line tool (CLI), the Beam MCP server, the Beam API, and any related services (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it, and "you" includes that organization.
2. The Service
Beam is a workspace for people and AI agents. You can store, organize, and share files in personal and team storage, and work with them from the web app, the CLI, the MCP server, and the API.
We are constantly improving Beam, so features may change, be added, or be removed over time. We will try to give reasonable notice of changes that significantly reduce what a paid plan includes.
3. Accounts and security
You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE] years old to use Beam. You can sign up with an email address and password, or with your GitHub or Google account. You agree to give us accurate information and to keep it up to date.
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including activity by people you invite to a team and by agents or tools that use your API tokens or CLI sessions. Keep your password, sessions, and tokens secret, revoke tokens you no longer need, and tell us promptly at legal@beam.host if you believe your account has been compromised.
One person may not maintain multiple free accounts to get around plan limits.
4. Agents and API tokens
You can create API tokens so that AI agents, scripts, and other tools can act in your workspaces. Anything done with a token you created is treated as done by you. You are responsible for choosing what a token can access, for the instructions you give your agents, and for what those agents upload, change, delete, or share.
Third-party agents, models, and tools you connect to Beam are not part of the Service. Their providers' terms govern your use of them.
5. Your content
"Your content" means the files and other material you or your agents upload to Beam, along with their names, folders, and tags. You keep all rights to your content. We do not claim ownership of it.
You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, copy, transmit, and display your content only as needed to run, secure, and improve the Service for you, and to share it with the people and agents you choose. This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except for copies held for a limited time in backups or as required by law.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to upload your content and to let us handle it as described here, and that your content and your use of it do not break the law or these Terms.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Beam, or let anyone else use your account, to:
- upload, store, or share malware, viruses, or other harmful code;
- run phishing, fraud, or impersonation schemes;
- upload, store, or share child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors. We report such material to the relevant authorities;
- infringe or misappropriate anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights;
- store, share, or promote illegal content or activity;
- send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or host content for them;
- get around storage quotas, rate limits, bot protection, or other limits of your plan or the Service;
- abuse the free plan or trials, including by creating multiple accounts to get more free storage or usage;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with or disrupt it, except as part of a coordinated disclosure you have agreed with us in advance;
- access the Service by automated means other than the CLI, MCP server, and API we provide;
- resell or provide the Service to third parties without our written permission.
8. Reports and enforcement
Anyone can report shared content they believe breaks these Terms, using the report option on the shared page or by emailing legal@beam.host. Copyright holders can send infringement notices to the same address. Please include the link, what the problem is, and how to contact you.
We may review content that has been reported or that we have reason to believe breaks these Terms or the law. We may remove or disable access to that content, limit features, and suspend or close accounts involved, with or without notice where we think it is necessary to protect Beam, our users, or others. If you believe we have made a mistake, contact us at legal@beam.host.
9. Plans, billing, and cancellation
Beam offers Free, Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans. Each plan includes a storage quota and other limits described on our pricing page or in the app. If you reach your quota, you may not be able to upload more until you free up space or upgrade.
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for the plan, per-seat charges on team plans, and applicable taxes until you cancel. We do not store your full card number.
New Pro subscribers may be offered a 14-day free trial. If you provided a payment method, your subscription starts and is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. If the trial ends without a paid subscription, your account returns to the Free plan.
You can cancel at any time from the billing page in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access to the paid plan until then. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods.
We may change our prices. We will tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next billing period after the notice. Enterprise plans may be governed by a separate written agreement, which takes precedence over these Terms where they conflict.
10. Deleting your account and termination
You can delete your files at any time. To delete your account, email legal@beam.host from the address on the account. We will then delete your account and its content as described in our Privacy Policy. If you own a team, you may need to transfer or close the team first.
We may suspend or end your access to the Service if you break these Terms, if your paid plan is unpaid, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would create legal or security risk for us or others. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to export your content.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law, survive it.
11. Third-party services
Beam relies on third-party providers, such as Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Stripe for payments, and GitHub and Google if you choose to sign in with them. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control.
12. Our intellectual property and feedback
The Service, including its software, design, and the Beam name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms do not give you any rights to it beyond using the Service as allowed here.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
13. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Beam available and your files safe, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content will never be lost. Keep your own copies of anything important.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Beam and its affiliates, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of [LIABILITY CAP AMOUNT] and the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
15. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Beam against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, including by your agents and tokens, or your breach of these Terms or the law.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in [COURTS / VENUE], and you and Beam consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the place you live.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the new Terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
18. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Beam about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
